These terms are the agreement between you and Echo — “Read with Echo” (“Echo”, “we”, “us”), operated as a sole trader — when you use readwithecho.com and the Echo apps (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live (generally 13+, or the age required in your country). If you’re using Echo through a school or teacher, that organisation is responsible for the accounts it creates and for any required consent.
Echo offers a free tier and paid subscriptions (Echo Plus and Echo Unlimited). Paid plans are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which is the merchant of record for your purchase: Lemon Squeezy takes the order, processes payment, handles applicable taxes and invoicing, and is the name that appears on your card statement. We never see or store your full card number. Because Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record, your purchase is also subject to Lemon Squeezy’s buyer terms.
Cancellation and refunds are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Don’t use Echo to: break the law; infringe others’ rights; upload content you don’t have the right to use; attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, scrape, or gain unauthorised access to the Service; resell or share paid access outside the fair-use limits of your plan; or misuse the speaking, import, or AI features to harass or harm others.
Echo lets you save words, notes, and (on some plans) import your own texts. You keep ownership of what you add. You grant us a limited licence to store and process it solely to provide the Service to you. You’re responsible for having the rights to any text you import, and you must not import material that infringes copyright.
The Service, its original readers, glossaries, audio, software, and design are owned by Echo or its licensors and are protected by law. Public-domain and openly-licensed texts remain under their own licences. You may use Echo for your personal language learning; you may not copy, redistribute, or create competing products from our content.
Echo relies on third parties for payments (Lemon Squeezy), hosting, and some optional voice/AI features. Your use of those features is also subject to the relevant provider’s terms.
We work to keep Echo available and reliable, but we provide it “as is” and can’t guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, or remove features. If we make a material change to these terms, we’ll update this page and, where appropriate, notify you.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Echo is provided without warranties of any kind, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for fraud or death/personal injury caused by negligence), and it does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
You can stop using Echo and cancel at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or is used unlawfully. If we close your account without cause, we’ll refund any unused pre-paid period.
Echo is operated as a sole trader in the United Kingdom. These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and disputes will be handled by its courts — except where the consumer law of the country you live in gives you the right to bring a claim locally, which these terms do not take away. Because Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for purchases, the sale itself is also governed by Lemon Squeezy’s terms.
Questions about these terms: support@readwithecho.com, or use “Report a bug” inside Echo. The operator’s registered name and an address for service are available on request to that email.
